glass tanks aren’t necessarily the worst. But for red tail it’s not the best. Any big plastic one from walmart would be great. I use one of the 15 gallon small ones for my gecko. Just make sure you cut some holes into it either small enough so it doesn’t get out or large enough to screen. My boyfriend burned little holes all around the rim of his.
Plastic sterilite or rubbermaid bins are good for this. I currently am housing a baby red tail and a baby ball python in their own 6 quart rubbermaid bins. My snakes are about 12 inches long. My bins have air holes for circulation but these bins are great for maintaining the right temp, because plastic is thinner than glass and gives a little more heat and they are good for snakes that needi high humidity.
