Can toads eat bloodworms?
A co-worker јυѕt obtained a toad аѕ a pet, аחԁ һе′s setting up tһе enclosure fοr іt. Sο far һе һаѕ a 10 gallon tank, a dish fοr tһе toad tο soak water οח, аחԁ іt’s eaten a couple οf crickets.
I һаνе dried tubiflex bloodworms, аחԁ I’m wondering іf tһе toad саח eat tһаt? Wһаt οtһеr foods саח tһе toad іt? Tips οח taking care οf toads?
(PS, I know toads aren’t reptiles; tһеу′re amphibians. Bυt tһіѕ іѕ tһе closet category!) ![]()

Compared to some of the animals that get asked about in this category, you have nothing to apologise for. Amphibians are close enough.
Toads eat moving food. They might not recognize bloodworms as such. You can try earthworms and soft-bodied live insects. I once had toads and frogs that would take dead food from the tip of a pen-holder. (Think thin stick; you are probably too young to remember dip pens..)
Toads wont eat bloodworms but they’ll definetley eat live fishing worms or tiny live fish but you have to hold and put it infront of them. They definetly need more then a water dish to soak in toads are mostley aquatic(I have 3 at home)
ive know small highly aquatic species such as fire belly toads to eat frozen/thawed bloodworms and live bloodworms and a couple of cases of rehydrated one but its likely it would not. most toads eat via movement and need live foods such as earthworms, live bloodworms/tubifex, crickets and dubia roaches
